HFM Members,

The Michigan State Legislature is making cuts to the Department of Community Health budget which will affect some members of the bleeding disorders community, perhaps you or your loved ones!

Act Now to Protect Health Care for Young Adults!

Up to 15,000 19- and 20-year-olds in Michigan could lose their Medicaid health insurance under a proposal passed by the Michigan Senate on March 25th.  The Senate-passed bill, SB 1094, eliminates Medicaid coverage for young adults ages 19 and 20, including vulnerable young people leaving the states foster care system.  The bill will now be considered by the Michigan House of Representatives, with the House Appropriations Subcommittee for the Department of Community Health expected to take it up in April.

Your help is needed in urging lawmakers to reject the Senate proposal and retain Medicaid coverage for low-income young adults.  Lawmakers must hear from you about the importance of this critical coverage for our youths!
