Much appreciation to all who participated with the 2022 Regional Meeting which boasted the largest attendance ever! It was clearly wonderful to be together in person, as well as sharing many presentations virtually. HFM’s full staff team provided support to present the HTC conference.
The Regional Meeting took place November 14 & 15, with 119 HTC staff in-person 160 total registrants and many HTC staff participating online. A preconference presentation regarding how the region functions was well attended. More than 90% of participants who submitted the evaluation stated they will apply new knowledge or make changes involving strategies, performance, or patient care as a result of attending the conference. 49% of participants who completed evaluations were first time regional meeting participants.
Regional Meeting evaluation comments included:
- This meeting had great general sessions with helpful information and it was just wonderful to have the variety of breakout sessions for the different disciplines.
- Keeping up to date on information and having the ability to network with colleagues in the bleeding disorder field is always helpful.
- It made us all more aware of cultural biases. It made us aware of how often we are likely misdiagnosing bleeds.
- Good to have the whole team there learning together so we can reinforce at the clinic
- I intend to use the resources presented in the Aging session and in other sessions to help facilitate a possible research project. I also found the session on Oppression/diversity issues to be very helpful in my understanding of communication with and care for diverse groups of patients
- I am a new provider and learned a great deal from this conference. I really enjoyed the women and girls with bleeding disorders and the post thrombotic syndrome outbreaks. Further, the gene therapy presentation was wonderful. As a new provider with the rare bleeding disorders, I will be able to better suggest treatments for women and girls; as well as discuss some of the research surrounding gene therapy.
The Region offered continuing education credit for physical therapists, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers and dental hygienists. Thank you to the Regional Meeting Planning Committee and all who collaborated to make the meeting a success. We also appreciate those who provided great feedback, shared issues you are dealing with, and suggested future topics. We will continue to utilize evaluation information to consider future programming and the 2023 regional meeting topics.
We’re happy to share that the 2023 Great Lakes Regional Meeting will take place November 13 & 14 at The Kensington Hotel in Ann Arbor. The planning committee will be announced soon!
